How Do We Live According to God's Will
I am sure this is a question we all ask. I do not know all the answers, but I do know the bible give us a lot of guidance on this matter. In God’s word He leaves “little golden nuggets” so to speak everywhere for us to find and to cherish on the way of our life journey to live by. The Bible states we cannot be saved on our own ability since we "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Rom 3:23).
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9) We can merely accept God’s grace to us and believe.
I invite you to look with me at the ‘little golden nuggets” God leaves in His word for us to find as we explore His word and try to live our lives according to His will. I am no expert on the matter, but I am seeking for His will and to live by His word. If it is His will for you to explore with me and make changes in your life according to His will.
First Step To Take
Receive Jesus as your Savior
Jesus was in the beginning of all things with God:
The Cross Represents God's Power
In 1 Corinthians 1:17 - 18 the Apostal Paul says he was sent by Christ “to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect. For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saves it is the power of God".
In verse 10 Paul urges us all to "to speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same jugement.
"For the Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbeling block and to the Greeks foolishness, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God (1 Cor 1:
22-24).
Be a Doer of The Word
If we hear or read the Bible only and don't do what we read the Bible say, we deceive ourselves in James 1:22. Deuteronomy 11:16 say take heed to yourselves, unless your heart is deceived and you turn aside and serve other gods and worship them. If we earnestly obey God's commandments to love the LORD and serve Him with all your heart and soul, then God will give us the rain for our land in season (Deut 11:13.14). In other words, God will provide if we obey.
Live by Faith
Imagine we move a mountain into the sea! Can we really do that? God’s word says we can in Mark 11:23 “whoever says to this mountain, Be removed and be cast into the sea…”. Imagine that!
We all are delt a measure of faith by God as His word states in Romans 12:3. God cannot lie (Titus 1:2). It is impossible according to Hebrews 6:18 because God cannot deny Himself but stay faithful even when we are faithless (2 Tim 2:13).
Grow your Faith
Faith comes from hearing and hearing the word of God (Rom 10:17) that means we can grow our faith by spending time in God’s word, meditating on it and keep it in our mind and heart. When we have faith even as small as a mustard seed, we will be able to move mountains, and nothing will be impossible for us (Matt 17:20), literally on earth and in the spiritual world.
God’s word states the just will live by faith (Heb 10:38) and we are blessed “with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ” (Eph 1:3). 1 John 4:14 states as Jesus is, so are we in this world. God has not given as a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind (2 Tim 1:7).
Stand on Your Faith
Whatever is in front of you, what you fear, or dread bring it to Jesus, lay it in front of Him. Have faith in God, speak to your mountain, without any doubt believe and you will receive what you said (Mark 11:22-23). Stand on God's word and callling on it as you pray and declare over your life.
We need to exercise our faith, use it, believe without doubt, and see it come to pass. When you experience even the smallest result, your faith has the opportunity to grow even more.
Amen
God's Timing is Not Our Timing
Imagine our days staring at the end of day at night fall and our months to runs with the cycles of the moon! How will it impact our lives? That is how God intened the time for us to be.
Genesis 1:5 "God called the light Day and the darkness Night. So the evening and the morning were the fist day". After each day of creation we find the same words; "So the evening and the morning were the ... day. (Gen 1:5, 8, 13, 19, 23, 31). Notice the evening is mentioned first then the day.
In Numbers 28:11 God instructed the Isrealites to give an ofering at the begining of their months. Jonathan said to David in 1 Samuel 20:18 "Tomorrow is the new moon; and you will be missed, because your seat will be empty".
The words "New Moon" in Hebrew means literaly "Head of the Month". If we do not want to look at Jewinsh sites to confirm this we can look at the Encyclopedia of Britanica (Britannica Editors (2023, May 15). New Moon. God Appointed The Days
Light was created on the first day and God devided the light from the darkness in Genesis 1:3-5. The sun moon and stars was created on day 4 of creation to rule over the day and night (Genesis 1:14-19). The sun for light by day and the moon and starts for a light by night (Jer 31:35).
Psalm 104:19 states "He appointed the moon for seasons; The sun knows its going down".
In Psalm 81:3 is the instruction to "Blow the trumpet at the time of the New Moon, At the full moon, on the solemn feast day". In Exodus 12:2 -6 God instruted Moses a spesific month to be the beginning of months to him, on the 10th day to pick the Passover lamb and on the 14th day to have the Passover at twighlinght. The month of Abib (Ex 13:4).
God Works On His Appointed Time
God work on His appointed time, not on our timetable. Here are some verses stating that:
"but under guardians and stewards until the time appointed by the father" (Galatians 4:2)
"But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law" (Galatians 4:4)
"For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry." (Habakkuk 2:3)
"For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly." (Romans 5:6)
"Because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained." (Acts 17:31)
Will We Know The Time?
God says we need to be ready when He comes in Matthew 24:44 for we would not know the time as he said in Matthew 24:36 but only the Father. The coming of the Son of Man will be like the days of Noah's flood (Matthew 24:37).
Paul says in 1 Thessalonians 5:2-3 "For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the lord so comes as a thief in the night. He compares the coming of that day as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman. We know as a lady progressing in her pregnancy and comming to the end of it labor is imminant, it can happen any time but also can be delayed.
"But you brethan, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief (1 Thess 5:4). In 1 Thessalonians 5 and 6 Paul states you are all sons of the light and day, "therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.
Do Not Fear
The Bible direct us in more that one place that we should not fear. We should put our trust in Him as He instruct us in Proverbs 3:5-6 "TRUST in the LORD with all your HEART, and do not lean on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowlage Him and He shall direct your paths". God says He will instruct and teach us the way we should go, and He promise His guidance in Psalm 32:8.
Here is some verses ordering us not to fear:
Guard Your Heart
What goes on in our mind? What consumes our thoughts or fuel our emotions and feelings? Proverbs 4:23 states:
“Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life”
Did you ever give thoughts about what drive our actions?
… Our Emotions often drive our actions. Where do emotions come from? … from our inner being in our soul, see the spiritual section - Spirit Soul and Body.
Guarding your heart is to be careful what you allow in your soul, which is your emotions and thoughts.
Live as Wise
These verses spoke to me and the scripture where it comes from, Ephesians 5:5-17.
Verse 6 states “Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient.”
Verse 10 says “find out what pleases the LORD”.
“Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.”
Ephesians 5:15-17 NIV
Best Friends Forever
Best friends forever. Who is that for you? Jesus layed down His life for us so we can have eternal life (John 3:16). He call Himself your friend if you do what He comands you to do. "This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you" John 15:12
Here is some verses how friends need to support each other:
