God is Spirit
The bible teaches us that God is spirit in John 4:24 and that we need to worship Him in spirit and truth. The only way we can try to see God is to imagine Him. But we should not change the "glory of the incoruptable God into an image made like corruptable man and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things" (Rom 1:23).
God is a three entity being, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This is most evident in the following scripture:
“For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one" as stated in 1 John 5: 7
Each one of the Trinity , Father Son and Holy Spirit have spesific roles:
The Father
No one has seen the father as it is stated in John 1:18 but God come to us in a whisper, a still small voice as it was presented to Elijah in 1 Kings 19:12.
The Father is:
• Everywhere in heaven and earth, nowhere can we hide from Him (Jer 23:24).
• All powerful, I feel God’s power is the best described in Deuteronomy 32:39 where He states He is the Only God, He wound, heals, He put to death and give live, and no one can deliver from His hand.
• All knowing (1 John 3:20); He knows our needs (Matt 6:8), even our every move and thoughts (Psalm 139:1-6).
• The creator of all things (Gen 1:1)
• Love, His love for us was displayed to us in the act of sending His only Son to this world to die for us so we can live through His son - Jesus (1 John 4:8-9)
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit was there from the beginning (Gen 1:2) and poured out on all believers at Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4)
- Is the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father (John 15:26)
- Given to us as our helper, reminder and teacher (John 14:26)
- Lives inside of us (1 Cor 3:16; Rom 8:11)
- Is our guide (John 16:13) and leads us (Rom 8:14)
- Testify about Jesus (John 15:26)
- Glorify Jesus and declare of Jesus to us (John 16:14)
- Convicts the world of sin, righteousness and judgment (John 16:8)
- Our seal of promise and guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, which is the believer, to the praise of Jesus's glory (Eph 1:13).
- Is the Spirit of adoption (Rom 8:15)
- “Bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God” (Rom 8:16) thus assures us of our redemption
- Give us spiritual gifts (1 Cor 12:4)
- Gives power to us (Acts 1:8)
- Helps in our weaknesses and intercedes for us “for we do not know what we should pray for as we ought” (Rom 8:26)
Jesus
We see from scripture that Jesus is the Word that become flesh (John 1: 14). Jesus the only one that is God in Spirit and in flesh. He is the son of The Father, it is evident from the following scripture and the Trinity is also displayed here:
"When he had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased”". Mathew 3:16 – 17
Jesus is:
- The Word that "become flesh”.. (John 1:14)
- Called Immanuel - God with us (Matt 1:23)
- “The Root and Offspring of David, the Bright Morning Star” (Rev 22: 16 b)
- Subject to the Father (John 8:28-29)
- The light of the world (John 8:12)
- The Way the Truth and the Life. No one can go to the father except through Jesus (John 14: 6)
- Our Savior (Is 53:5) (Matt 1:21)
- All authority belong to Jesus in heaven and on earth (Matt 28:18)
- "KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS" (Rev 19:16)
- The Beginning and the End, the First and the last, the Alpha and Omega (Rev 22:13)
- Is comming quickly (Rev 22:7)
- " Called Faithfull and True, and in righteousness He judges and make war (Rev 19:11)
- The Word of God (Rev 19:13)
Until Heaven and Earth Pass Away God is always The Same
It is said in Hebrews 5:8 Jesus is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. Here in Matthew 5:17-18 we see He did not come to do away with the law and Prophets but to fulfill them. The Old Testament is then still valid, and all the commandments and laws of God still stands as it says until heaven and earth pass away nothing will be removed until all is fulfilled (Matt 5:18)
“Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”
Matthew 5:19
Spirit, Soul and Body
We also are three entity beings made up of Spirit, Soul and Body. (1 Thess 5: 23)
- Spirit – this part you cannot feel, this is where our connection is with God, where the Holy Spirit should live within us, in the temple – our body- and our spirit belongs to God (1 Cor 6:19-20). This is our lifegiving part, the center of our being as scripture states our body is lifeless without the Spirit (James 2:26).
- Soul – This part you can feel but not physically tough, this is you, your thoughts – your mind, your emotions, and will. You can feel this part as you emotionally get hurt, feel joy, peace, disappointment and so on. The best example I can find for our soul is in 1 Peter 1:22
“Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart”
- Body – this is our physical human body equipped with five senses to see, hear, taste, smell and touch to explore and live in this physical world. This is our flesh as the bible refer to as being carnal (1 Cor 3: 1,3). Our body is described as “the temple of the Holy Spirit” and we belong not to ourselves but to God (1 Cor 6:20).
Note the spirit is in the center and our body on the outside, this puts the soul in the middle. For the body to benefit from the spirit, the Spirit needs to flow from the center through the Soul to the Body. In other words, the spirit needs to enter our thoughts and mind to reflect finally in the body. Scripture says he who believes, "out of his heart will flow rivers of living water, but it was said according to the Spirit (John 7:38 - 39). Your heart is the center of your being confirming the spirit to be your utmost center part of your being.
Scripture also says he who walk in the Spirit will not do the things of the flesh, so we do not do the things that we wish. The body and Spirit contradict each other and the soul lean to one or the other per Galatians 5:16 to 25.

God's Dinner Table
The bible is our spiritual food. In Deuteronomy 8: 1-6 God reminds us that we need to remember what He taught us though our lives, through generations and to the biblical forefathers. We need to call to remembrance what we read in scripture and keep it with our own experiences in our hearts. In verse 3 it states that we do not live by physical food alone, but by what God speak to us. Remember that still small voice we can hear in our conscience. God mentors us like we teach our children. We need to remember God’s teachings as we remember what our parents taught us. God invites us to come and sit at His table for nourishment in Psalm 23:8. Especially when we feel overwhelmed, pressed from all sides, when we feel depleted, spiritually and emotionally empty. When we get to this point, we need nourishment. Although we should not wait until we run on empty. We should feed our spiritual side as often as we feed our physical body - daily. Open the door of your heart and come sit at God’s table. In other words, open the bible and read, it is the living word of God (Heb 4:12). God says: He is standing at the door and nock, whoever hears Him and open, He will come in and “dine with him and he with Me” (Rev 3:20).

Pysical versus Spiritual World
We live in a physical world, where we can use our 5 senses: we can see, hear, taste, smell and touch things but the spiritual world is unseen and that is where our attention and mind should be.
“While we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:18
In the physical life our body is growing old, we decaying as 2 Corinthians 4:16 say it is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. Our mission in life should be to be renewed day by day in our mind and spirit for that is what will go to heaven. Yet as Proverbs 4:22 states the word is healing to our flesh John 6:63 states:
“It is the Spirit who gives life: the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit and they are life.”
We came into this life equipped with an earthly vessel, our body. While God give health to our physical body so we can carry out our purpose it will stay here on earth when our earthly time is done. It is the soul and spirit that will enter eternity when our time comes. It is not this physical life we need to be worried about but the spiritual eternal life here after. As Paul the apostle states in Philippians 3:14
“I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Crist Jesus.”
This is a call all of us will face one day. Are we ready for that call when it comes?
